disney blather

I started writing tihs post on Friday and then forgot about it halfway through. So I’m just going to finish it up today and add my weekend update to the end.

Well Monday I was so annoyed I didn’t even really tell yall about what we booked, did I? Plus we have a split stay so I didn’t get to book the rest of it til today. So I thought it would be fun to go through it all.

Going to sort them into categories…

Places New to Us:
Boatwright’s
We have one resort/no park day so we thought we’d go try Boatwright’s at Riverside.

Steakhouse 71
So excited for this one! Ash ate there in January and really loved it especially the potatoes. We have this for dinner on our Magic Kingdom day so we can just walk over.

Cape May Cafe
This was a late addition, Chase sent a review over to me just today and it looked good. We decided to add it in as a breakfast our last day. There’s currently no characters but oh well. Maybe they’ll be back by the time we go?

Splitsville
We thought this would be a fun one to try. It’s got something for everybody, Kevin can get pizza, I can get sushi, Chase can get a burger.

Brown Derby
Do yall know how many times I’ve had this on the list to book for a trip and then we look at the menu and think “nah…”? We’re sticking with it this time! We’ve eaten at the lounge and loved it so let’s give the actual restaurant a chance…

La Creperie de Paris
TBH I wanted the Space 220 lounge instead of this one but never even saw it in the list, even at the end of our window. I’ve got a reservation finder set up to let me know if one comes available. I’m on the fence with the Creperie, I really don’t see anything that just looks amazing. I love crepes but none of the entree crepes are speaking to me, and I don’t know what Kevin would really want here. It may get canceled even if we don’t get a Space 220 Lounge reservation, because we can always just eat at the booths.

Places New to Kevin:
Via Napoli
We always do Tutto Italia so we’re taking a year off and going back to Via Napoli – only our second time here and Kevin’s never been. His fav is Italian food so he’ll love it.

Raglan Road
We went here for the first time on our last trip and was like oh yeah, we’re coming back, Kevin will love it.

Oga’s Cantina
Same here. Kevin is not much for drinking, but he’ll love the atmosphere.

Old Favs:
Whispering Canyon Cafe
We’ve all had dinner here before but not breakfast so technically it’s new for all of us for breakfast I guess LOL

And finally…
Savi’s
This is Kevin’s bday present from like… everybody. We snagged a late night reservation so he’ll be able to carry his lightsaber out of the park without having to lug it around all day (and get some cool pics in Batuu on our way out…)

On Thursday our magic bands came!

I got the Leia one, Chase got one of the 50th anniversary ones, Kevin got Happy Birthday.

Utenas

Saturday was a busy day, we had an event Chase was filming in the morning which was a lot of fun and I’ll talk more about it later. After that was over we went to a vintage store and then to lunch. Lunch was too much food so we packed it up and took it home and had leftovers for dinner.

Sunday met the girls for pizza and brought Chase a slice back, Luna was jealous.

Then went over to check on Kevin and the cats.

Irises are blooming in the front yard.

I don’t have a lot to post about sewing progress because it’s been minimal. About a week and a half ago I did something to my right arm. i THINK it’s because I slept on it funny and then exacerbated it with a busy day at work clicking the mouse all day. The muscle between my thumb and index finger was swollen and spasming, and my arm has been sore all the way up to my shoulder. It got better over last weekend and then Monday morning when I was stressed out over the disney reservations I sat there and played solitaire while on hold (for 4 hours) and it flared up again. I decided to take it easy the rest of the week and just let it calm down. By Friday I felt like it was back to normal so I finally went upstairs and cut some fabric… and it flared up again. It’s getting old. Today it’s sore mostly thru my bicep and shoulder.

That being said I did get a little work done. I got the shawl pieces for the dapper day Leia dress cut and started applying my HTV rebel symbols which has proved to be a pain. trying to get the iron hot enough to make the HTV stick without the organza… tricky. I already melted a hole in one panel and had to recut it.

I had to turn the heat on the iron down, cover up everywhere except the area I’m transferring the vinyl, and also go ahead and peel the vinyl off the carrier sheet (then lay the carrier sheet back over it to apply it – it’s just no longer stuck to it). Then once I start seeing it’s sticking, I go ahead and take the carrier sheet off, flip the fabric over, put my heat protector sheet over it and press it for a good 20-25 seconds. This seems to do the trick without melting anything. Fingers crossed, I have a ton of these to apply and each one I’m constantly checking to make sure nothing is melting.

So here’s where I stand with Disney projects:

1. Marvel 2 piece outfit:
Ordered my fabric! Should have it by the end of the month so that gives me plenty of time to make the outfit – I made the Stitch jumper in a couple of days so since this is the same pattern, should also go pretty quickly.

2. Dapper Leia
Just have to finish this shawl, print my belt buckle and assemble my necklace. I also bought back up flats in case I can’t do the heels after wearing dale the day before LOL

3. Kevin’s 2 outfits
Going to just buy stuff to make him a dapper Donald Duck look, and buy and mod some stuff for a Luke look. His Luke bound is going to be based on Dagobah, got him a Yoda backpack LOL

4. Ears
I made the new Muppet ears and I want to make some new Padme ears (using leftover liberty dies stuff), and maybe finish updating the Lake ears. Not a big deal if I don’t get to the lake ears since I don’t even know if I have time to wear my Padme disneybound this trip.

5. Hip bags
I’m going to get me and Kevin plain hip bags and decorate them so we both have easy-to-carry bags when we need them.

I think that’s it. My mind is just ready to go.

In other costume news, I did get a swatch for Lady Jessica in the mail this weekend. The colour is good but the weight and shininess aren’t. (too thin and too shiny) so I guess I’m going to start testing dyes on fabric that is close. Ugh. Also can I say I hate that Joann Fabrics shows one colour in the the thumbnail for a certain fabric and then when you click on it that colour is not even listed as sold out or unavailable, it’s just not there.
